PRIVACY POLICY
Currency Converter
Last updated: 18 August 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Currency Converter mobile and web application (“App”, “we”, “us”) handles information. Please read it before you use the App.
The App is a currency conversion tool. It does not require an account, and it is not a bank, wallet, remittance service, or financial adviser. Exchange rates are provided for information only.
1. SUMMARY
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, payment details, or precise location.
The App stores a small amount of preference and cache data on your device only. When the App fetches live or historical exchange rates, third-party rate providers may receive technical information such as your IP address as part of a normal internet request.
2. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
We do not:
• require sign-up, login, or a user profile
• collect names, emails, phone numbers, or government IDs
• collect payment card or bank account details
• run an in-app advertising network
• sell, rent, or trade personal information
• use your conversion history to build a marketing profile
• access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or precise GPS
3. INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The App saves the following on your device (for example via on-device app storage / SharedPreferences) so the App can work offline and remember your setup:
• last selected “from” and “to” currencies
• last amount you typed
• favorite currencies, recent currencies, and watchlist
• theme preference (light, dark, or system)
• a cached copy of the latest exchange-rate table and its timestamp
• a cached copy of recent rate-history points used for the 7-day / 30-day chart
This data stays on your device. We do not operate a user database that receives it. Uninstalling the App, or clearing the App’s data in your device settings, removes it.
4. INTERNET ACCESS AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App needs internet access to download live exchange rates and chart history. It also checks whether the device is online so it can show an offline notice.
When those requests are made, the following independent services may process technical data (typically IP address, date/time, and standard browser or app request headers) according to their own privacy policies:
• ExchangeRate-API open endpoint (open.er-api.com) — latest rates
https://www.exchangerate-api.com/terms
• Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.app) — historical rates for supported currency pairs
https://www.frankfurter.app
• Currency API hosted on jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net / @fawazahmed0/currency-api) — fallback latest rates and dated history
https://www.jsdelivr.com/terms/privacy-policy-jsdelivr-net
https://github.com/fawazahmed0/exchange-api
• Google Fonts — used to load the App’s typeface
https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not control these third parties. We send them only what is needed to request public rate data or fonts (for example a base currency such as USD, and a date range for a chart). We do not send them your name or an account identifier, because the App has none.
Standard platform services (Apple App Store, Google Play, and your device operating system) may also process install, crash, or diagnostic data under their own terms.
5. PERMISSIONS
Android may show:
• INTERNET — to fetch exchange rates, history, and fonts
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to detect offline vs online and show a clear status
iOS and web use equivalent network access. The App does not request contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location permission.
6. CHILDREN
The App does not target children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us using the details below and we will delete it if we hold it. Given the App’s design, we would not normally hold such information.
7. LEGAL BASES (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process the limited on-device preferences described above to provide the App you asked to use (performance of a contract / legitimate interests in operating a functional converter). Network requests to rate providers are necessary to display live and historical rates.
8. YOUR CHOICES
You can:
• use the App without creating an account (there is none)
• change or clear favorites, watchlist, and theme inside the App
• turn on airplane mode; the App will use last saved rates when available
• uninstall the App or clear app storage to delete on-device data
• stop network requests by using the device offline (charts and fresh rates will not update)
9. DATA RETENTION AND SECURITY
On-device data is kept until you change it, clear app data, or uninstall the App. We do not run a remote account store for this App.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Rate requests travel over the internet to the providers listed above.
10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Third-party rate and font services may be located outside your country. If you use the App, your device will contact those services as described in section 4.
11. CHANGES
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12. CONTACT
Currency Converter does not require you to register with us.
For privacy questions, requests, or complaints, contact the developer using the support or privacy email published on the Currency Converter listing on Google Play or the Apple App Store.
If you need a dedicated contact line, email the address shown on that store listing and mention “Currency Converter privacy”.
13. STORE DISCLOSURES (SHORT FORM)

Data shared with the developer: none
Data stored on device: preferences and cached rates (see section 3)
Data processed by third parties: technical request data when fetching rates and fonts (see section 4)
